Reenabling queues

Sometimes the submit queues on the system might become disabled, e.g. after a reboot. This could be seen in the result of

# qstat -f

as a state of d. To reenable a queue run the command

# qmod -e <queue name>

In our simple system, all the queues have the synonym all.q, so this would be

# qmod -e all.q

Changing the scheduler

The grid engine scheduler can be fine tuned to enable sophisticated scheduling strategies. However, to enable a simple fair user strategy, the configuration was changed by running qconf -mconf and then the corresponding lines edited as

enforce_user auto
auto_user_fshare 100

Then qconf -msconf was run and the corresponding line edited as

weight_tickets_functional 10000
