We will be partly organising the ACM SIGIR 2005 Workshop on Mathematical/Formal Methods in Information Retrieval (MF/IR 2005), on Friday 19th August at SIGIR 2005.

Congratulations to the leader of the Information Retrieval Group, Professor C.J. 'Keith' van Rijsbergen, who has been awarded the Tony Kent Strix Award for 2004.

Terrier, a framework for developing IR systems is under development in the group. Terrier is now available for download as open source software (version 1.0.x). It is distributed under the Mozilla Public License (MPL).

Congratulations again to Keith, who is now an ACM Fellow and a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.

We are organising the 3rd International Workshop on Adaptive Multimedia Retrieval (AMR 2005) at IJCAI 2005.
